And Jesus said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”
Mark 4:30–32
On the campus pages you will find stories of how we have seen God move, and you will get a glimpse of what we are praying God will do this year. We have seen exciting growth in our ministry and are asking God for more of that. What exactly is this growth we are talking about? God has entrusted us with this ministry on college campuses in Kentucky, and by partnering with us, you are a part of that too. We do want to see this ministry grow. We hope more and more students will be impacted by what we’re doing on their campuses, and we dream of adding more staff and maybe even more schools to our footprint here in Kentucky. But our ultimate goal is not to just grow Campus Outreach. We want God to use our work on the campus to grow His Kingdom.
The passage above gives a picture of how to do that. Jesus talks about seeds and plants and crops a lot, and many times, the seed he talks about is the gospel– the story of who he is, how he saved us, and how he is making all things new. How do we grow? By spreading the seed of the gospel to college students who don’t know Him. Where do we pray for growth? We focus our efforts specifically on these campuses in Kentucky, but we pray that the branches of that growth would extend far beyond the campus to reach all over Kentucky, our nation, and even other parts of the world. We’ve seen God do this time and again during the 20+ years since Campus Outreach Lexington started, and we are asking God to increase, even multiply that work this year.
As you read these accounts of what God is doing, please know that we could not do it without you. Thank you for being a part of what God has called us to. Your partnership in the Gospel is a blessing to our team and to the students we are reaching. Thank you for helping make this growth possible, and please join us in praying that God’s Kingdom will continue to grow on and through college campuses in Kentucky.
