For Life
Eastern Kentucky university 2024 campus update
“You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also”
2 Timothy 2:1-2
Our prayer for every student that we interact with here at EKU is to prepare them for life. Sadie captures these things well in her quote below. We get some students for a semester, others for four full years, but regardless of the time frame we have the best news anyone could have to offer them! We obviously want to provide a fun college ministry experience, but we have failed if we leave it at that and students don’t have the tools they need to read the Bible, apply the Gospel, and get plugged into a healthy church upon graduation.
In May, we saw almost 30 student leaders graduate from EKU and are very hopeful that they have been well prepared! Some of them professed faith during their freshman and sophomore years and, in turn, dozens of their friends professed faith over the last two years. Selfishly, I’m happy that a handful of these graduated students even stayed in Richmond and are plugged in with the local churches we are connected to! In August we “reloaded” in a sense with a lot more sophomore and junior involvement than the previous semester. The students cycle through year after year, but the mission stays the same: we want to prepare students to “walk with God for a lifetime and, in turn, multiply for a lifetime.”
78 students being discipled
11 intentional discipleship groups
110 students studying the Bible with our student leaders
305 total students involved
“One thing that stands out about my experience with COEKU is how much confidence I have gained just in a year! CO has developed my confidence in my relationships, in evangelism, my testimony, my future, and my walk with God overall. I am so thankful the Lord saw fit for this community to welcome me with open arms and help me grow into the woman that He has called me to be!”
